From Antique to Unique!

Come visit with us on Monday, January 14th at 7pm when local antique textile enthusiast,  Ann Hermes, talks to us about "Pennsylvania Patchwork Pillowcases And Other Small Treasures". She will be sharing pieced and appliquéd items that date to the early 1800's and were typically made by the Pennsylvania Germans. Ann has extensive knowledge of vintage fabrics and has had her work featured in national and international quilt magazines. She transforms her antique finds into miniature quilts, pincushions, ornaments and other small items. Some of these vintage gems will be available for sale.  Hope to see you there!

On a personal note, I would like to thank some of our quick-sewing members who were able to quickly provide me with pillow cases just after Christmas.  I took 27 pillow cases to the Yankee Quilter store in Seymour, Connecticut.  These pillow cases along with the ones that have been sent to them from all over the country will be distributed to the surviving students of Newtown, CT.  When I dropped off the pillow cases, the owner of the quilt store told me that they had received 5,200 pillow cases -- and that was just at one of the 2 stores collecting them!  I'm sure that they will have enough for every child and adult.
