Our activities provide a great opportunity for quilters of all skill levels to make new friends, learn new techniques, and increase their enjoyment of quilting.
Members gain knowledge and inspiration from lectures, workshops and our monthly Show-and-Tell. Every two years, we organize a quilt exhibit to showcase the many talents and styles of our guild members. Above all, we simply enjoy spending an evening with others who share a love of quilting.
And, in the true spirit of quilting, which has traditionally provided warmth and comfort to others, our guild contributes to charities that protect and serve women and children. See below.
Please feel free to join us as a guest and see if our guild is what you are looking for. Our guest fee is $5. If you decide to join, our dues are $30 a year. Our meetings are held the second Monday of each month between September and June. By the way, we meet at New Britain Baptist Church at the corner of East Butler Avenue (old 202!) and N. Tamenend Avenue in New Britain, PA 18901. Any questions, feel free to contact us. We would love to meet you!
County Line Quilters helping others....
We have had overwhelming response to our placemat charity. Our members create a great variety of 14x19 placemats that Jeanne Malone delivers to both Generations for the Montgomery Meals on Wheels and to the Central Bucks Meals on Wheels Programs. Placemats make any delivered meal just a little bit more special for shut-ins. There are so many ways quilts can brighten up someone's day!
We have also provided numerous quilts over the years to Christ's Home for Children, a local agency dedicated to providing shelter and treatment for young victims of abuse, neglect or abandonment. Children from birth through age 18 receive a quilt of their own which carries with it a message that others care about them and are thinking of them. We would love to have your help in our endeavors! You can choose to make one from your stash or pick up one of our kits. We often have many kits available at our meetings. Remember there is no deadline for the cot-size (50”- 60”) to twin size (63” x 87”) finished quilts.
A group of our members recently participated in the Pillowcase sewing afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Glenside PA, sewing many, many pillowcases to benefit ConKerr. Thanks to Sue Edelman for coordinating the afternoon, to Diane Washington, who graciously donated all of the fabric used for the project and to all of the participants!
Our former librarian, Sue Brodish, and her husband delivered over 50 charity kids quilts to Chinese orphans. Sue has a good friend, a nurse practioner, that has many contacts with U.S. doctors who generously give these children the care they need (for no payment other than living and travel expenses) including surgery that is not yet available in their country. The idea is that each child receives their own quilt while undergoing their procedure to give them some comfort. These quilts are theirs to keep. Sue plans to bring more quilts to these children in the future. She thinks she will need a bigger suitcase as the generosity of the quilters keeps growing to touch these children in some small way. She gave us photographs to share. There were too many to show them all, but here is just a sampling...
