Another Chance to Win!

Just in case you missed your opportunity to play "Who Wants to Win a Really Cool Queen's Crown" at our February meeting...we're giving you another chance!  Just answer our one simple question - at least for all of you who were customers at Country Quiltworks - and you'll win a fat quarter courtesy of CQW.  Just check in with Robin with your answer at the March meeting and collect your prize.  Sorry, no more crowns, but we think you'll probably be just as happy with a fat quarter.  Here's the question:

What was the CQW Bonus Card worth when it was filled?

  • A) $20 off
  • B) $25 off
  • C) 20% off an item
  • D) 25% off an item

See Robin at the next meeting to cash in!

And while you're here, we invite you to become a subscriber to our website blog.  All that means is that every time we post a new message on this blog, you'll receive an email so you'll know to check it out.  So, you'll hear right away about any last minute changes, or any fun info we put on the blog.  Sew...take a moment to sign up while you're here...another way to be a winner!

A Local Quilt Exhibit You Might Not Want To Miss!

'Celebrating Nature's Beauty In Stitches: A Quilt Show

Mark your calendars.  This exhibit is showing from now through February 27th at Jenkins Arboretum in Devon and features three extraordinary local artists:  Barbara Persing of Statavarious fame, B. J. Titus who showed us so many incredible quilts last spring (including the one above!), and this month's speaker, Terry Kramzar.  These three ladies together spell out a fabulous show you won't want to miss!

Celebrate National Quilting Day with US!

Make this fabulous Jewel Box Quilt by Janet Wickell with a free pattern from about .com here!

You are invited to join your fellow guild members in a NEW event this year!  Our guild plans on celebrating “National Quilting Day” on Saturday March 26 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.  We will meet at the Lenape Valley Presbyterian Church where we hold our usual monthly meetings.  All members are invited and encouraged to attend.  All quilting and sewing skill levels will be needed.  The plan is to gather as a group and spend the day working on projects – together.  We can work on placemats, teenage quilts, baby quilts or whatever projects our Community Service Project chair people need help with completing.

As we work together (pressing, cutting, assembling, piecing, pressing, appliquéing, quilting, pressing, binding, etc.) we will be celebrating both the hobby that has brought us so much joy and celebrating the Guild that has brought us together as quilters! We are fortunate to have wonderful fabrics from Country Quilt Works that have been donated for our use which helps tremendously.

Please bring your sewing machine and either a bagged lunch/beverage or you can place an order for takeout at a place in the shopping center nearby. This way there will be no added work for Hospitality.

Please email Mary Molettiere at marymolly@comcast.net if you are interested and put "CLQ-Nat'l Quilt Day" in the subject line of the email.  More details will be presented at the February meeting.

Terry Kramzar Coming in February!

Our speaker in February is art quilter Terry Kramzar.  She just completed an Artist in Residency in both Grand Canyon and Everglades National Parks.  The title of her talk is “Inspired by Adventure”.  She exhibits widely in juried and invitational shows including Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn NY and the Lower Town Quilt Walk in Paducah, KY.  Terry’s quilts can be seen in numerous publications including the Quilt Art Calendar 2008 and on the cover of Quilters in the Kitchen cookbook.  She has garnered many awards and recognitions and her work is in private and corporate collections in the U.S. and Europe.  She has a studio in the Brandywine Valley.  You may have seen her quilt “Leaves” at Quilt Odyssey.  Check out her website at www.terrykramzar.com to see her Gallery.

Since the meeting lands right on Saint Valentine’s Day, plan to wear RED and spend the evening with your favorite quilt buddies!  If you signed up with "Dinner with the Speaker", please meet at the New Britain Inn at 5 pm.  If for some reason you cannot make it, please call Mary Molettiere at 215-896-9226.

Friends Around the Quilting Frame

Welcome to a new feature for County Line Quilters.  Each month we will feature one of our members and learn a little about what makes them tick.  In order to do this, we are asking that you take this opportunity to tell us a little bit about yourself.  We've tried to make it easy for you with this fun and handy questionnaire.  You can either email your answers to Mary at marymolly@comcast.net, or print out the form, fill it out and drop it at the membership desk at the next meeting.  We can't wait to get to meet you!

Lots of Free Patterns...

...all in one place!  While some of these patterns can be found elsewhere - on fabric manufacturer's sites, for example - here are hundreds, all one click away.  From simple to stunning...definitely worth taking a look.  I've added it down on the right, under Quilter's Resources.  Let me know if you have other great quilting sites you think I should add.

A New Generation

One of the guests at our Holiday meeting was Meghan, Beryl's granddaughter.  As an extra treat, she brought along her first quilt to share with us at Show 'N Tell!

Can you help???

Every year, during the holidays, our guildshows its support of two women's shelters in our area.  This year the guild will make a monetary donation to The Women’s Place and a wish list of donations to Laurel House.

Both these organizations (one in Bucks County and the other in Montgomery County) are dedicated to providing safe haven for abused women and their children, raising public awareness about domestic violence and advocating for social change against domestic violence.
